New Season: free download!
You can download my new album New Season for free/pay-what-you-want throughout November on Bandcamp!
Please reblog this to let the world know (sharing is caring).
Love from Luke
It’s that time of year again. Here’s my Christmas single straight outta 2006. Download it for free on Bandcamp.
I’m going on tour! If I’m playing a living room show in your city and you want to come along, send me a message on Facebook or Twitter and I’ll put you in touch with the host. Perhaps they’ll become a friend for life, or maybe even a lover. There are going to be Christmas songs and copious amounts of mince pies and mulled wine (I hope).
The fun and festive poster was designed by the equally fun and festive Matt Withers. Check him out on Tumblr.
And on a final festive note, you can download my hit 2006 Christmas single, I’m So Confused by Christmas, for free on Bandcamp.
Merry Christmas!
Futures - Sal Paradise. This song is sick and the video is great too. If you like what you hear and see, you can download the Holiday EP for free from Futures’ Bandcamp page. It’s definitely one of my favourite releases of this year.
Futures asked me to play some keys for their Radio 1 session last week so I took a day trip to Maida Vale Studios in London with them. You can see some photos from the day on my Flickr. Most of them are from inside my little keyboard booth, hence all the frames and windows. Otherwise you get nasty loud guitars all over my sultry piano moments.
You can download the debut Futures mini album for free from Bandcamp.
For one week only… pay what you want!
I released my latest album Have You Got Heart? back in November 2009. Many of you have downloaded it for free from Bandcamp, some of you have bought the deluxe limited edition 40-page CD photo book from Bigcartel. This is all great.
A few weeks ago Bandcamp launched a pay-what-you-want option for physical products, as well as downloads. I thought I’d give it a try for a week to see what people pay and whether they’re more inclined to buy the physical version. So if you’ve wanted to get hold of the physical version of my album (and you should because it’s really beautiful - see a video here) then this week is the time to do it. Pay what you can afford, or what you think it’s worth. There’s a minimum of £2.50 to cover production costs but the rest is up to you.
To those who have already bought the physical version and possibly feel miffed that I’m doing this, please don’t be annoyed! It’s a tough time for everyone involved in the music industry and you have to try everything and see what works. Let’s not fall out over this.
PWYW right here.
This is the debut EP from Jon Spanyol and it is called Good Things. Jon played trombone on my new album (very well, I hasten to add) but he can basically play any instrument, including some that haven’t even been invented yet. This EP features Jon playing piano and exercising his lady-killer voice. Musically, it’s a funky mix of latino piano, wailing guitar solos (Jon is clearly a man after my own heart) and one of the best synth solos of all time on the first track, ‘Don’t Make A Sound.’ Perhaps a mix of Maroon 5, John Mayer, Ben Folds and Scissor Sisters. Or perhaps not.
You’re going to download it right now because it’s free and you’d be mad not to. Click here.
:( - Kawaii. This album was in my top ten blog of last year where I said; “Imagine Funeral For a Friend if they played gameboys instead of guitars. That’s :( and you say it “colonopenbracket.” I first met these guys when I was playing for Get Cape Wear Cape Fly back in 2006 and they supported on some gigs. We’ve kept in touch and I’ve slept at their houses when I’ve been up in Scotland, and now they’re finally releasing their debut albumIt’s amazing. It’s like dancey, bleepy, rocky nonsense and I love it. They are also totally great guys. You can listen to tracks on their MySpace or better still, just buy the album for a measly £6 from their Bigcartel and support a great, innovative UK artist. Whenever I listen to the album I feel all warm and happy.”
However, there’s now some great news. :( are offering the album as a free download! Your mission for today is to go and download it from their Bandcamp page and then enjoy it. Have a great day.
Two Free EPs
I downloaded two free EPs yesterday that you might also like to download. Free stuff is good, right?
The first is Battle EP by Marcel Legane. Marcel reminds me of a poppier, more upbeat John Mayer, kind of, but don’t get angry when you download it and he doesn’t really sound like John Mayer. It’s the best comparison I can make. Anyway, I really like it. He has a lovely voice. Download it here.
The second is an EP by Tangled Hair, who were formed from the ashes of BSM twiddlers, Colour. I discovered them through BSM’s amazing 10 Collection, whereby one pays an annual fee of £18 in order to receive a new mp3 each week from BSM of a band that they deem worth listening to. It’s an amazing idea, great value for money, and a fresh way of discovering some new music. The Tangled Hair EP is great and you can download it here.
Let me know what you think, okay?
